Mission
Celebrate Robert Louis Stevenson’s birthday through a city-wide series of events and promotions which raise awareness of RLS, his work and Scottish literature at large.
Project
I managed the development of this emerging holiday campaign on behalf of the UNESCO City of Literature Trust.
This included developing the brand identity and marketing materials for the day — a jaunty mustache & pirate theme, tipping its hat to Stevenson’s prodigious handlebar, his sharp sense of humor and his best-selling Treasure Island (he coined the phrase Yo Ho Ho in that work).
Materials were distributed across the city on buttons, badges, posters and postcards to promote a series of community events hosted by a number of partners including a keynote event held at the University of Edinburgh. Working with Napier University, short theater pieces of his most famous works popped-up on city streets and in parks, too.

An #RLSDay hashtag was plastered on city sidewalks along with great Stevenson quotes, and an RLS-inspired flashmob (complete with mustaches!) gathered in the city center to read his work aloud.
